12.20-2, Music (outside), Melodians Steel Orchestra: Based in Balham, the steel orchestra formed in October 1987 and has travelled to over 30 countries around the globe and performed at many festivals, Royal events, and the Christmas Concerts at the Royal Albert Hall 15 years in a row.

12-1, Upstairs, Yoga for beginners: A one-hour session led by Diana Currey of Way to Go Yoga, aimed at people who are relatively new to yoga. Email dianacurrey@btinternet.com to reserve a spot, or take your chances on the day. By donation

1-2, Downstairs, History talk: Woodfield since the 1920s, featuring reflections on the difference between the two ceremonial openings of 1933 and 2019 and the need to collect the memories of those who knew the field in past times. A talk by Andrew Sharp, a historian and a trustee of the Woodfield Project. Free

2-2.45, Outside, Opening ceremony: our official opening, including the mayors of both Lambeth and Wandsworth.

2.45-3.15, Outside, Storywalk: A magical story of transformation, aspiration, courage and possibilities. Her parents want her to be like all the other little girls and walk but she has other ideas! We will be making artefacts from the story to carry and to hang in the trees between 12.00-2.00. At 2.45 everyone is welcome to come listen and to join in the story walk on the field. Free.

3-4, Upstairs, Printmaking: a taster workshop in leaf printing and card making from local artist Lucy Spanyol. £5, £8 to take the card away with you.

3-4, Downstairs, Healing Hedgerows: Medicinal Uses for Wild Plants. A plant walk led by Roy Vickery, President of the South London Botanical Institute, discussing the medicinal qualities of common wild plants in the area. Meeting in the downstairs hall and walking on the Common. Free

The Woodfield Pavilion will be open during the day and we will be offering tours when there are no workshops running in the upstairs space. The downstairs space features an exhibition by local artists Lucy Spanyol and Henrietta Roeder. We hope that the Woodfield will become a space for local artists to regularly exhibit their work and run workshops. Please enjoy
