‘’MYRIAD’’ an exhibition of work by Jana Rychvalska
Woodfield Pavilion 14th - 25th May 2025.
Opening times: See below
Private View: 15th May 4pm - 7pm
During ‘MYRIAD’ exhibition I will be showcasing my new surrealistic style of works based on a language, my trademark abstract works and the first time ever, my audio projected compilation of over 750 ‘House Keys’ photo compositions.
'Raining Cats And Dogs' sketches first emerged when I lived in Sydney, Australia (2012 - 2014), and were created because I felt homesick. Since 2022 I have produced five canvases, predominantly due to its theme popularity, and because it is fun choosing different breeds to ‘juxtapose in a mid air’. Other idioms, proverbs and sayings that sparked an instant visual composition were ‘Pigs Might Fly’, ‘Grass Is Greener’, ‘Apple Doesn’t Fall Far From The Tree’ and the French ‘Qui vole un oeuf, vole un boeuf’.
As an artist, I feel the non-objective non-confirmative freedom of the abstract genre the most, yet all my pieces were created whilst listening to formal and structured classical music. Selection of my vivid abstract works were first shown in Woodfield Pavilion (W.P.) during ‘EMANCIPATION OF COLOUR’ exhibition 2024. I am hoping to bring works which were not seen in W.P. before, but many of these are finishing their exhibit abroad, so the delivery and arrival of this shipment will determine my final cut towards ‘MYRIAD’.
The ‘House Keys’ photo composition and documentation project is my most challenging and ongoing project to date! In August 2024 I gave myself a challenge of photographing 1000 house keys for their deeply personal, individual and unique arrangements. Our keys will soon be the relics of ‘what was important to us today’, since we are heading towards technology locking systems. My written project proposal of a dark projection room was submitted to the Tate Modern in September 2024 and awaiting their reply. With your contribution, I hope to increase my current count. Big thanks to all current participants!
‘’MYRIAD’’ is at Woodfield Pavilion from 14th - 25th May 2025.
